The story
The patent drawings of flight.
Aviation by miniblank prints flight as it was patented: the drawings that inventors filed with the United States patent office between 1895 and 1946, each sheet from the office’s own scan, in one navy ink. The titles name the machine, never a maker; the inventors are named as the sheets name them.

Nineteen sheets.
Lilienthal’s glider and Chanute’s soaring machine, the 1906 flying machine and the wing tips of 1911, the flying boats; then the autogiro and the helicopter, the variable-pitch propeller and the jet engine, and the instruments of the 1930s panel. Every sheet is printed big on the back, about 34 cm tall, and every sheet is a poster too.
Four marks, embroidered.
The heading card, a two-blade propeller, the NACA 2412 wing section plotted from its equation, and the attitude indicator. In navy and instrument-orange thread, at the centre of the chest, and on caps.
