Questions
Are these the real patent drawings?
Yes. Each design is one sheet of a granted United States patent, taken from the patent office’s own scan and printed as it was filed: the figures, the numbers, the inventors’ names. Nothing is redrawn, and the patents are in the public domain.
Printed or embroidered?
The patent sheets are printed big on the back in one navy ink, about 34 cm tall, and come as 12 × 16 in posters too. The four flight-deck marks are embroidered in navy and instrument-orange thread, at the centre of the chest and on the front of the cap.
Who invented them?
The inventors are named on each sheet, and on each design’s page as the sheet names them: Otto Lilienthal, Octave Chanute, Orville and Wilbur Wright, Juan de la Cierva, Frank Whittle and others. The titles name the machine, never a maker.
Is anything redrawn?
No. Each sheet is cleaned from the patent office’s 300 dpi scan and set in one navy ink. The only addition is the sheet’s title in Arabic and its patent number, set beneath the drawing.
What colour are the clothes?
White, so the navy ink reads like the sheet itself: the heavyweight tee, the crewneck and the hoodie in white, the oversized tee in a faded white. Caps come in White, Stone and Khaki; posters are on white matte paper.
Do the posters come framed?
No. They are 12 × 16 in (30 × 40 cm) on thick matte paper, sent rolled, and fit a standard 30 × 40 cm frame.
How do I choose my size?
The heavyweight tee, the crewneck and the hoodie each have a table in centimetres in the size guide. The heavyweight tee and the crewneck are relaxed: take your usual size. The hoodie is cut loose: check the measures first. The oversized tee is boxy: your usual size wears loose, one down sits closer. Caps are one size, with a strap.
Why do some sizes cost more?
The biggest sizes take more cotton. The exact price shows when you pick a size. Shipping stays free.
How long does delivery take?
Your piece is made after you order, then shipped to you. Orders arrive between 9 and 16 Nov, with free tracked shipping.
Where do you ship?
To 75 countries, including the United States, Canada, Australia, Switzerland, Singapore, the UAE and Saudi Arabia. The full list is at checkout. Shipping is free on every order.
Any customs charges?
The carrier may collect import tax or duties on delivery, under your country’s rules. Those go to your government or the carrier, not to us.
Where is it made?
By a production partner at one of its print and embroidery shops around the world, then sent straight to you.
How do I look after it?
Wash cold, inside out, hang to dry, never iron the print, and iron around an embroidery, never on it. Keep posters out of direct sun and damp.
